Miley Cyrus is either taking one for the team by agreeing to a fourth season of Hannah Montana or not-so-humbly fulfilling the terms of her multi-year deal with Disney Channel. The singer’s father, Billy Ray, told Access Hollywood that he gives “a lot of credit to Miley for taking it another year. She didn’t want it to just end with whatever was the last episode we did. She wanted it to build to where there’s a moral to the story, to where it doesn’t just end and go away and that’s it. She wanted there to be an official ending to Hannah Montana.”
But the singer-actress also had a contract to fulfill; a Disney source told EW that the network already had an option on Cyrus, 16, for a fourth season and simply decided to exercise it.
Less than a week after Miley Cyrus called it quits with Justin Gaston, the pop star admits that she has “reconnected” with ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas.
“He’s my best friend, and we still hang out all the time, and we’ve definitely reconnected,” the Hannah Montana star told radio station 107.5 The River in Tennessee on Friday. “We don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but right now we’re just kicking it and hanging out as much as we can.”
The pair, both 16, were spotted on June 9, jet-skiing together on Tybee Island, where Cyrus is filming her new movie The Last Song. “They looked like they were having a blast,” says an observer.
When asked about the excursion during her 107.5 interview, Cyrus said “no comment” but did mention “I’m a jet ski demon!”
Cyrus and Jonas broke up in December 2007, after which “I bawled for a month straight” Cyrus told Seventeen magazine. But the two recently reunited when they collaborated on the duet “Before the Storm” for the Jonas Brothers’ new album and worked on the Disney’s Friends for Change campaign.
“We both just kind of saw each other again and kind of decided this whole thing was stupid and … we all were over the separation,” Cyrus said on-air. “And our families are super happy that we’re hanging out again.”
Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus has broken up with her boyfriend of almost nine months and is tweeting about it.
According to E! News, the 16-year-old ended her relationship last week with underwear model and aspiring singer Justin Gaston, 20, as she prepared to leave L.A. for her two-month shoot for “The Last Song” in Savannah, Ga.
Though her rep had no comment, the teen star and her ex-boyfriend’s Twitter posts over the weekend reflected the breakup. (Her June 8 tweets included: “trying to smile through a gloomy day in savannah,” and “life will go on. you will smile again.”) Gaston quoted lyrics from John Mayer’s “Dreaming With a Broken Heart” in a June 4 tweet.
The couple went through a rocky path because of Cyrus’ resurrected friendship with ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, E! News reported.
“She obviously has been hanging out with Nick again a lot, and Justin was cool with it at first — as long as it was just a cool friendly thing,” a source close to Gaston told E! News. “She didn’t cheat, but I guess Nick was trying to get her back the whole time.”
Disney Channel has closed a deal for a fourth season of the blockbuster series starring Miley Cyrus.
Additionally, the cable channel has ordered a second season of its breakout new comedy series, “Sonny With a Chance,” and has tapped Jeffrey Hornaday, choreographer of such movies as “Flashdance” and “A Chorus Line,” to direct and choreograph the fourth “High School Musical” movie.
There had been questions about whether Cyrus would return to the series that made her a global star, with the teen actress-singer recently expressing her intention to continue her small-screen duties as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana for one more year.
As part of the deal, Cyrus will get a long hiatus to work on the feature “The Last Song,” with production on the fourth season of “Hannah Montana” slated to begin next year. (Filming on the show’s third season wraps this week.)
The series will change settings next season, during which the Stewarts will grapple with saying goodbye to their beachfront Malibu home.
“That will provide the catalyst for wonderful new characters and further expand the storytelling opportunities,” said Disney Channel Worldwide president Gary Marsh.
“Hannah Montana” — which also stars Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment and Jason Earles — draws an average of 4.4 million viewers per episode.
A 2007 episode of the show still ranks as the highest-rated basic cable series telecast ever with 10.7 million total viewers.
“Hannah Montana” has generated two double-platinum soundtracks, a No. 1 boxoffice movie, DVDs, a junior novel series, apparel, accessories, video games and a Miley Cyrus concert tour, which spawned a 3-D film version that became the No. 1 concert film of all time.
“Hannah Montana” was created by Michael Poryes, Rich Correll and Barry O’Brien. Poryes and Steven Peterman exec produce.
Since its premiere in February, “Sonny,” toplined by rising star Demi Lovato, has become TV’s top program for kids 6-11.
Written by Peter Barsocchini, “High School Musical East Meets West,” about the cross-town school rivalry between the East High Wildcats and West High Knights, is scheduled to premiere in 2010.
Either Disney is cheap, or doesn’t think Miley Cyrus is worth that much — because the Mouse is being a real tightwad when it comes to paying Cyrus for a cameo on one of their other shows.
We got our hands on Miley’s contract for her guest appearance on Disney’s “The Suite Life on Deck” — which airs in June — and it only guarantees Miley $5,000 for a week of work.
It may sound like a decent amount of scratch, but Miley’s a big star and could easily get more for a guest spot on a non-Disney show.
Hell, “Idol’s” bikini girl made $10,000 for hosting a Vegas party recently.
But the paltry paycheck actually makes a lot of sense, since the story we broke last year about Miley and her dad wanting out of “Hannah Montana” because there’s far more money in singing than in doing a Disney cable show.
TMZ has learned Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus want off “Hannah Montana,” and their conduct has triggered a war on the set.
Our spies on the set tell us Miley has bragged that she will get fired, making it clear she wants to focus on singing and not the show. For his part, Billy Ray has also made it clear that there is more money in singing than a Disney cable show. As a result, the father-daughter team has been showing up to the set ridiculously late, stalling production and infuriating cast and crew.
Emily Osment, who plays Lilly Truscott, used to be extremely tight with Miley. Now we’re told Emily is so bitter she literally turns away from Miley after each scene. We’re told Emily’s dad got in a screaming match with Billy Ray, complaining he and Miley were unprofessional.
Sources tell us Billy Ray has told people on the set that he and Miley will do 12 more episodes and then they are out. Disney was so pissed they called his agent, railing that Billy Ray and Miley were ingrates. Disney insisted that Billy Ray and Miley not only finish the 24 episode season — but Disney was adding six more episodes.
To put it mildly, this set is far from the happiest place on earth.
Miley Cyrus hasn’t met Lady Gaga, but is truly inspired by her.
Yesterday, the 16-year-old starlet tweeted, saying, “‘Paparazzi’ is the best song ever. I wanna perform with [her] one day. [Lady Gaga] reminds me of Hannah Montana. She’s like a normal songwriter/producer and then she has a double life as a popstar.”
Miley continued her love today. She tweeted, “I wanna perform with Lady Gaga one day.”
It is hard to believe that Miley Cyrus is only sixteen! She is one of the most googled celebrities on the planet and has achieved superstar status as a musician, TV/movie actress and even an author. is this all a bit too much for someone only born a decade and a half ago? Some of her closest friends think so.
‘Behind her super-confident facade lurks a fragile side, honestly there have been times when I have truly feared she will go the way of Britney Spears. it’s hard to imagine the pressure she is under’ one anonymous source close to Cryus family noted.
Of course, Britney Spears’ personal struggles are legendary but apparently Miley balks at the suggestion that super-stardom might prove too hard for her.
‘Miley has the support of a famous dad (Billy Ray Cryus) who knows many of the issues already and watches Miley like a hawk. Miley herself adamantly insists she is ‘no Britney Spears’ if the topic is ever raised’ another associate commented.
Apparently now Miley Cyrus is getting in on the “Footloose” mix. Although she hasn’t tried out for the part mostly because she doesn’t need to since proving her musical abilities with Hannah Montanna fame. My sources say that the the studio has expressed interest in Miley to play the part of the leading lady Ariel Moore, and that she is definitely in the mix.
Previous stars that have been vying for the role are NBC Heroes star, Hayden Panettiere,Amanda Bynes from “What I Like About You”, and dancing with the stars dancing pro, Julianne Hough. They have all auditioned, and are waiting to hear back. I personally think that Miley actually fits the role in every aspect from the look to the musical ability. It’ll be interesting to see which direction they go in. I definitely know if she were to get the part, she would give the movie more of a big draw which they ended up lacking once Zac Efron dropped out of the role of Ren McCormack originally played by none other than Kevin Bacon.
It’s also still not a lock that she would actually sign on the dotted line for the movie as her schedule is surely full with other projects. She also has the kind of pull that Zac Efron had, if not more. So she would most likely be sitting in the driver’s seat on this one, I think. “Footloose” is set to begin shooting in March of 2010 with Gossip Girl’s star, Chace Crawford already locked in to take over Zac Efron’s role as Ren McCormack in the film.
My opinion is that I don’t think Miley is appropriate for this role and my reasoning is that this might affect her scheduling and I believe Amanda Bynes would be the better candidate only because I admire her singing and she never had a good part in the musical Hairspray.
Here are two recents Candid sets. I promise I’ll add all missing sets by the end of my final exams (later this month)… I hope you can wait a little bit
